One a Majority!

One a Majority!, May 24
Author: Charles H. Spurgeon From the book: Faith's Checkbook

"One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, He it is that fighteth for you, as He hath promised you" - Joshua 23:10

Why count heads? One man with God is a majority though there be a thousand on the other side. Sometimes our helpers may be too many for God to work with them, as was the case with Gideon, who could do nothing till he had increased his forces by thinning out their numbers. But the LORD's hosts are never too few. When God would found a nation, He called Abram alone and blessed him. When He would vanquish proud Pharaoh, He used no armies, but only Moses and Aaron. The "one-man ministry," as certain wise men call it, has been far more used of the LORD than trained bands with their officers. Did all the Israelites together slay so many as Samson alone? Saul and his hosts slew their thousands but David his ten thousands.

The LORD can give the enemy long odds and yet vanquish him. If we have faith, we have God with us, and what are multitudes of men? One shepherd's dog can drive before him a flock of sheep. If the LORD sent thee, O my brother, His strength will accomplish His divine purpose. Wherefore, rely on the promise, and be very courageous.

Amen and Amen. This excites me on so many levels. On one level, I know that God will and is going to provide and bless the ministries that I'm apart of and hope to start in the near future. I know that the life I've lived the convictions I've had since I was but a child are from Him and have been allowed by Him to truly mold me into a woman who will tackle thes types of life issues. On another level, I know God will grow whatever ministry my husband and I may join or start in the future with regards to missions and time spent in the Orient and in Europe! I know that as I follow and trust in the Lord's word He will continue to refine me and purify me so that I can bring glory to His name and see fruit from things that He's said through me. I know that I can make a difference for the Lord even if its JUST me. Knowing that I can be an army of one and still prosper because the Lord is on my side and has made it possible for it to be this way. I'm reminded of David & Goliath. He was a child who was an army of one, yet God blessed him and his slingshot and the battle was one quickly. If a child can beat a Giant... what can God do in our lives if we're abiding in Him. So encouraging and thought provoking. Grace&Peace.
